One son who's potentially worth $100+ million. I could understand wanting to keep a close eye on that one and his college career.
This. It's more common than people realize.

Jack and I explained it pretty clear.
I can't imagine seeing the Parker's picking up and moving to Durham for one year...Just to possible move to New Jersey (or where ever is is drafted) the next year.
If he's playing one year of college, stay close to home then make the big move after, when you know where he's drafted.
This is the part where you give examples of families that have done this befote.
Jabari Parker is signing with Michigan State in the fall, his very good friend said it on twitter about 30 minutes ago. I have a thread on it just find it and read it.
The source is connected to his AAU team, and this is apparently backed up in the opinion of a IL HS hoop source. TIFWIW.
Someone with 13 posts sounds extremely reliable...
If you have a twitter account you can read it for yourself. Kyle Randle (krscout) is his twitter name, im just relaying what he said bitch
OK, it appears Kyle Randle has some connection to Parker through AAU ball.
The source Randle cites is a guy named Daniel Ponegan, a 20 year old who runs a website called illinoishsbasketball.com. Nowhere on that site to I see anything about Parker committing to MSU.
This could be a number of things, connected insiders, a plug to bring more attention to that website, who knows. I lean towards the latter.
0.288% chance of being true.
Hide yo quarterbackz, hide yo kidz, the MSU defense is here
So you are saying there's a chance...
Capt.Gingersnap, don't be angry with me.
Is twittler cereal?
While both Randle and Poneman** are relatively young, these are Chicago guys talking about a Chicago recruit, so I wouldn't doubt them having connections.
And Randle was referring to this tweet by Poneman:
Daniel Poneman @SwagAir
my final guess is that Jabari Parker goes to Michigan State... Close to home + great coach + hard working style + can win a championship
Sounds empty to me but I will take a sip of the kool aid.
Would this be the biggest recruit MSU has ever landed, outside of Magic? I mean, from all I have heard he sounds like the best prospect since LeBron.
Michigan State University is the university of Michigan
Yes it would be, Jabari game reminds me of Penny Hardaway but bigger.
Yes, he's not just the #1 player, he's the #1 high school player in the last several years. He'd likely be the #1 pick in next years NBA draft if they didn't have the 1 year rule. He reminds me of Carmello Anthony except not a jerk.
He's a good kid and it seems like he has a strong family and a good group of people around him. Even though he's a Chicago kid, he's not associated with some of the negative elements around Chicago High School basketball.
I really, really hope we get Parker, but I think Kentucky will be a major player. Calipari puts so many guys in the NBA and very high. I know most of these guys come in highly ranked, but he lets them play and does not screw things up and gets them their first round money. Besides all the guys he has had drafted recently, just look at his recent # 1 overall guys, Derrick Rose, John Wall, and a good chance Anthony Davis. Two good Chicago guys and one from Simeon.
Easily. he'd been compared to Grant Hill, Paul Pierce, Kevin Durant. this is the kind of player that gets you big time recruits in the future solely because of his image and potential impact. only the fourth Junior to win Gatorade NPOY in is 25-some year history
He reminds me most of Paul Pierce on offense, he's got a well rounded game with a killer step back jumper. But he is taller and a very good facilitator on offense.
Not only that, but the Pac12 is extremely spread out. The Big 10 is much closer and easier to attend away games. Every school other than Penn State is with in driving distance or close to.
Why don't people understand that UK is NOT a player in this recruitment. Looks to be MSU and Duke with Illinois looking from the outside in. UK has NEVER been mentioned as a place for Jabari.
I agree, everyone just assumes that every top recruit with commit to Kentucky because of there recent success. That is not the case and Kentucky, Kansas, or North Carolina with be much of a factor in his recruiting process. I believe that he will end up picking Michigan State because of the distance being the biggest factor for his parents. Before Bruce Weber got fired I would have said he picked Illinois. His parents are playing a huge part in his commitment and I think no matter where he goes its gonna be for 1 year. I hope he does pick MSU because for 1 year or not, it would be great for our future recruiting. GO GREEN!!! GO WHITE!!!
Well, don't particularly think this is a great thing...but by no means a terrible thing. I think this is a kid that has built enough of a name for himself he could go to any school in the country, do well, and leave after a year. It might even benefit him to go to a smaller school and dominate if he is not all about the name recognition. Would have loved to see the kid walk-on at MSU.
