Jody Demling (who has been covering the NBA Top 100 camp Parker has been playing at)had more on his Twitter about Jabari changing his phone number before last night's unlimited phone calls and texts from coaches came into effect:
"Jabari Parker - the nations top player - took the smart route. He changed his phone number this week. He said only one coach knew the number."
He goes onto to respond to another tweet:
"Nope. But I don't think it's UK or U of L. RT @Barbs_86: did he disclose the name of which school the coach was employed??"
The fact that only one coach knows his number speaks volumes about where he's at in his recruiting, IMO. Forget the fact that he doesn't have a top 5, it sounds like he has a clear-cut favorite at this point. All the speculation about him holding off on a decision to give his teammates some more exposure is sounding very logical right now. We'll see what happens from here.
Here's the link.
Gotta love that Izzo is the first photo shown of Jabari with college coaches and that Michigan State is the first school mentioned by Katie Couric.
Honestly, I'm happy to hear this. Whether or not it's Tom Izzo, it's good to hear it's not a wide-open recruitment any more. If it's Izzo, hopefully we can lock him up. If not, it should allow Izzo to focus on guys like James Young and Jackson.
I think it's very common for recruits to be PC and say a recruitment is "wide open" when it is far from it.
Article on Illinois recruiting with quotes from the Schmidt brothers from Prep Bulls-Eye. Talks about Parker, Okafor, and Alexander.
Main quote about Parker:
"We would narrow it down to Duke and Michigan State," the Schmidts said. "Jabari has great relationships with (Michigan State coach) Tom Izzo and (Duke coach) Mike Krzyzewski. That is a very important factor to consider, his relationship with the head coach. And one other thing to consider: Michigan State is closest to home."
He did have a top 5 i have heard him say his top 5 in two interviews. He said, "Northwestern, Depaul, and Illinois. But my top 5 is Washington, Duke, Kansas, Illinois, and Michigan State."
Coach K don't have the number because Jabari Parker said yesterday he havent talked to Coach K in a long time so Izzo might be the one with the number.
"Not really. I haven't talked to [Mike] Krzyzewski in a long time." -- Jabari Parker on his recent contacts with Coach K

And the thought of playing with Mr Harris would INCREDIBLE!
And the thought of playing with Mr Harris would be INCREDIBLE!
He hasn't talked to Izzo or any other coach in a long time either...cus it's, you know, illegal
Well wouldn't he have said I haven't talked to any coach in a long time?
Depends on the context. Did someone ask "Have you talked to Coach K lately?" or did they ask "What coaches have you been talking to lately?"
And if he said that yesturday, why would it matter. he could of gave coach K the number anyway and they would have talked TODAY.
Just because Jabari says he haven't talked too Coach K in a long time, doesn't mean Coach K don't have his contact number! He just says i haven't talked with Coach K in a while.

I wonder how Jabari Parker rests with all the publicity he gets.

I am sure Jabari will do whats best for his future and pick the best school for him.
There had been some speculation that "The Decision" might get dragged out to the spring, but it appears we will have the verdict this November.
There IZZOnly one choice here....
U17 world championships:
The U.S. squad is using this mini-tournament in order to prepare to defend the USA’s FIBA U17 World Championship title. The 2012 FIBA U17 World Championship is being held June 29 – July 8 in Kaunas, Lithuania.
Joel Berry (Lake Highland Prep School / Apopka, Fla.) and Jabari Parker (Simeon Career Academy / Chicago, Ill.) did not play tonight due to injuries sustained during training camp in Colorado Springs. Berry is recovering from a concussion and is listed as day-to-day, while Parker injured his left toe and is sitting out the two games in the Canary Islands as a precautionary measure.
injured foot - clearly a future spartan
Hmmm...interesting tweet by Diamond Leung:
@diamond83: Drake Harris' father is here telling supporters Michigan State is on track to land Jabari Parker.
Premature speculation but I can appreciate the hopeful feeling of possibly landing Mr Parker
Yeah, dad clarified that it was just talk that's he's heard on the AAU circuit.
Yet still talk that most of us regulars never get a chance to hear. This by all means is a positive sign.

Interesting article from Salt Lake:
Another article about the Illinois assistant coach hired to replace Chew. IlliniJ should be excited about this guy more than Chew. It looks like he is really respected by the Chicago coaches.
Will post in the Jalil thread also.
Some of the Chicago area’s most prominent high school and clubs coaches reacted positively Tuesday to Illinois hiring assistant coach Paris Parham.
Parham replaces Isaac Chew on Illinois coach John Groce’s staff after Chew departed last month for a position at Marquette. Parham is expected to be the Illini’s lead Chicago recruiter. He is a Chicago native, played at Dunbar High School in Chicago, coached at Phillips High School and Morgan Park High School in Chicago’s Public League and has recruited the city and surrounding suburbs the last five years for Illinois State.
“It’s rare a person gets an opportunity to do a do-over,” said Whitney Young coach Tyrone Slaughter, whose roster includes nationally-ranked juniors Jahlil Okafor and Paul White. “I think coach Groce and the Illinois program got a do-over. We all liked the Chew hire, but I think the Paris Parham hire is one we love. It’s means nothing negative against Chew. It’s about the relationship we all have with Paris.
“I’m elated. This is one of the few times in Illinois basketball hire history that I can say I’m excited.”
