Boy oh boy good golly gee would I ever like this Jabroni Porker fella to play shooty hoops at Michigan State. Heard he'd make all kinds of goal points, and would most likely get some playing time as a froshman at the power guard spot behind Cleat Affling. With Harry Ferris not living up to the hype this year though, I'm a bit skeptical. I guess all I can do is trust in our benevolent leader Tim Isho!
How did you manage to rack up 200 posts without getting permabanned?
Hide yo quarterbackz, hide yo kidz, the MSU defense is here
In all seriousness I'm quite excited about the possibility of jp playing here next year. Wish he'd make a decision, a green one at that.
There is an espn insider article where their "experts" predict where JP goes. Any subscribers here wish to read and bring back a debrief in emoticons only? TIA
6 of ESPN's 7 college recruiting insiders predict Jabari Parker will eventually ink w/ Duke, not Michigan State. Interesting.
This was retweeted on my feed. I signed into my buddies insider and basically the so-called "insiders" who say he will choose Duke base it on chances to win a NC. I won't believe anything either way until he officially announces
the only "expert" of the 7 who is picking MSU is Reggie Rankin. His reasons are "Parker's decision will be based on style of play, the coaches' ability to develop players and the talent level of the players already in the program. I also believe Parker's parents want to see him play in person as much as possible."
FWIW, Rankin is based in Chicago.
Anyone. Anyplace. Anytime.
Its funny they all pick Duke based on chances to win a NC. Doesn't make sense to me because if Parker goes Green then MSU/KY would be the preseason #1/2 (not sure what order, depends on who comes back for KY).
This is what I like to see!
Most people Ive talked to that know Chicago hs hoops think he is going to Duke, but that MSU would be their 2nd guess.
Duke's top 3 players are all seniors... Duke's roster next year looks like utter crap compared to what MSU has coming back. I'd be utterly shocked if Jabari passed up a chance to play with MSU next season. The point-forward position is wide open and waiting for him. Jabari is the missing piece to MSU's next national championship.
Put simply, at MSU Jabari would dominate the ball and the offense would run through him (like with Draymond); whereas, at Duke it's always been about the guards. At Duke, his game would be at the mercy of lesser talent, like Thornton and Cook.
Not sure it's quite as bleak for the Devils as that. Suliamon, this year's freshman, can play. They have two really good players already signed, but both are wings. Rodney Hood transfers in, but he is a wing as well. The interior looks thin with Plumlee gone and his younger brother, the third Plumlee, is a project.
Agreed about Duke's roster and Sulaimon is playing as well as any Freshman in the country. But assuming Nix is our only loss, I think our roster looks a heck of a lot better with the only real weakness being the lack of a Day Day like versatile forward. Oh yeah, thats exactly what Parker is
Duke also has Rodney Hood as a transfer coming in next year.
Still doesn't compete with Dawson, Appling, Payne, and Harris as your co-starters.
My point is that MSU next year is very much a proven commodity. Four starters are experienced... the bench is deep...and there is an actual spot/role waiting for Jabari to fill.
Who can really say how Duke will look next year? I also can't see how Jabari fits into Duke's system. With MSU, Jabari can look to last years MSU team and see exactly what his role will be ... point forward.
Valentine leading the bench and that team would be incredible. Nice part about Valentine is he can get starting minutes total easy because he can play 4 spots.
Just letting you know, even though it was an insider article, it was not inside information. Only 1 of the analysts actually stated why he thought Parker was going to duke. He said it was because he (the analyst, not Parker) thought Parker had a better chance of winning at duke.
It basically said he was a 1 and done, he resembles Paul pierce, he practices the Mormon religion, and that it's a two horse race. In other words it was stating information we've all known for a year now and put an insider label on it.
Izzo still has time to close him...he will continue to watch his games and fight till the end. I just think there is way too much smoke in general to say definitively he is going anywhere...Izzo has landed a 5 star recruit the past 3 years...gotta trust him on this one.
ESPN has also had a reasonable transparent anti-big ten bias ever since the creation of the big ten network.
Parker was not suspended like most his senior teammates due to a shoe stunt pulled last year. Sounds like he is getting healthier.
