Cal is not a good coach. He just knows how to manipulate children, and is not afraid to manipulate the rules to do so. He's the antithesis of everything the UK program used to stand for. I just hope some kids like Cliff Alexander understand that.

He's exactly what the UK program stood for before tubby smith. Rupp, Hall, Sutton, Pitino, Calipari.
Trash stacked upon trash.

I disagree, I think he is a good coach. Just because you get a lot of talent together for 1 yr doesnt mean you automatically are going to win.
They won last yr because he got them to play defense and AD certainly has a big impact on their D.
He also has experience coaching in the NBA.
His ethics are another matter.
He is below average at best. He would have at least 2 NCs by now if he was average. That Memphis team not winning it all was ridiculous. Make the kids work on their free throws some during practice that was the only thing that could have prevented them for winning it all.
Meh, they lost in the finals in OT. Yes they blew a lead in that game but spare me...I will take the final game in OT for any Izzo team. Kansas had Chalmers,Cole Aldrich,Darrell Arthur.Sheron Collins and others. THat was a great team as well. They ran thru a lot of good teams to get to Kansas. You just have a blind hatred for him
"Memphis convincingly defeated No. 2 seed Texas in the Elite Eight round to advance to the school's first Final Four since 1985. Following this win, Memphis went on to beat No. 1 seed UCLA on April 5, 2008, advancing to the National Championship game on April 7, 2008. With this win, Memphis became the first team in NCAA history to achieve 38 wins in a single season. After holding a nine point lead with two minutes and twelve seconds left in regulation, the Tigers lost to Kansas."
Now explain the team with Wall not making the final four. Raw talent wise that was the best team in the country by a mile.
Wierd. I don't remember anything about Memphis that year. If they were that good, how could that be? It's almost like that part of my memory has been...vacated. Or something.
When you guys are done hijacking the thread let the rest of us that are interested in this future Spartan know.
Good stuff, talks a lot about Michigan State but he also says he wont make a choice untill senior year, say goodbye to the riple affect.
Cliff is visiting Illinois today.
Make sure someone is there to point out who the coach is. Last week, Cliff Alexander said he couldn't remember his name.
Cliff and Gary Harris are tweeting eachother.. always good to see.
Another reason they won was that senior Darius Miller. When a team like Louisville made moves on UK, Miller always hit a big bucket or 2 to stop the run. Take him off that team and even with all that talent I do not see them winning. Indiana made several runs at them as well and that Darius Miller dude hit big shots against IU to stop runs.
Looks like Cliff badly sprained his ankle today...
c'mon Cliff. Just let it out already...we love you too.
Per comp's twitter: msu is leader. There is an article but I am not going to give money to that site.

Yep, definitely a Spartan.
Cliff say he he may attend UK MM. This recruitment just turned.
After all , he could have indicated he would attent MSU MM.
Saying MSU still leads doesnt mean much anymore.
He's already been to MSU's Midnight Madness.
Doesn't matter much anyway. IU rescheduled theirs so Gary Harris could go. He went. Oops.
Anyone. Anyplace. Anytime.
Comparing the Harris recruitment to Alexander is irrelevant. Cal is a rock star, like him or not. Just won an NCAA title unlike Payne/Harris recruitment. Rep is he gets them to the league even though we all know he doesnt develop them.
Cal is a different cat than Painter and Crean to compete with. You think kids grew up dying to play for Painter or Crean?
I mention MM just as an indicator that KY will be a player here. It's more the aura of Cal in the eyes of these recruits.
It is true Cal has this image among young players of being a players coach who wins, runs a fun style, and gets players in the league. Couple that with one of the most storied programs ever and it's a perfect storm. So perfect Cal probably doesn't have to cheat like he used to. That is the unfortunate thing because that is how I wanted him derailed. Now I hope he goes to the nba.
As far Alexander, we are strong with him and Izzo is on a roll. I like our chances.
