Hey I figured I'd post this article because it's one of the rare instances that I take the administrations side in criticisms against them. This situation on at first glance looks pretty suspicious and i'm sure if it were a republican instead there would be alot more media outrage. But it actually makes sense in my book.
For those who don't want to read the article Biden own's a home in Delaware and an adjacent cottage that was once rented out to a member of the general public, while the secret service rented other properties in the area to house the agents who were responsible for his safety while in the area. When that resident moved out the secret service moved in and now Mr. Biden is a federal contractor.
My point of view is that if the house was already a rental property and the secret service was already renting in the area and it makes total sense for them to rent the cottage that is adjacent tot the Biden property. I haven't been able to find the rates for the previous properties they rented in the area but I'm assuming they are comparable and even if not having them next door to him could make it worth the extra money.
If I am wrong to support him on this matter and am missing out on some facts please let me know I will gladly listen.

Some facts/questions you are missing...do you realize Biden requested and received SS protection for his mother while she was still alive as well as his GRANDCHILDREN? I don't know of any President's that would even request that for their grandchildren. I question why the secret service refused to rent it when he first approached them, and then apparently changed their minds only AFTER Biden was able to find "somebody" who rented it for $2,200 dollars.
He's a crook, plain and simple. Just look at his tax returns. The article you linked says: "but the Secret Service declined and Mr. Biden rented it instead to a private tenant, according to the vice president's office. But almost a year later, when that tenant moved out, the Secret Service approached Mr. Biden about renting the cottage" So it says somebody else rented it for a year in 2010, but yet on his 2010 tax returns it says he only had 11k in rental income, which would be 5 months not 1 year.

This sounds familiar like its something new:
Here's an excerpt from Lloyd Grove's column in the Washington Post, January 12, 2001:
After angry callers kept insisting that the Secret Service is paying enough rent to Bill and Hillary Rodham Clinton (for space on their property in Chappaqua, N.Y.) to underwrite the Clintons' mortgage, we checked with the agency that protects presidents, former presidents and their families. Secret Service spokesman Jim Mackin told us that the agency is paying the Clintons only around $1,100 a month — a figure based on a government formula and the standard arrangement in such situations.
But wait, there's more. After a bit of fact-checking, the Post amended its story the next day:
A Secret Service representative misspoke in the Reliable Source in the Jan. 12 Style section. The Clintons are entitled to collect rent from the agency for space at their Chappaqua, N.Y., home but have declined the payments of about $1,100 a month, said White House press secretary Jake Siewert.
Did the Washington Times get this right?

I'd love to hear about this "gov't formula" and how the allotted amount increased by 100% in less than 10 years...of course Biden completely disregarded this apparent gov't formula by admitting to charging the same amount the previous tenant was paying, so something's not jiving with your example

You are a high powered business guy. Its public record so find out the formula. Because the Washington Times didn't bother to report the fact that this goes on no matter who is in office you shouldn't be surprised they didn't report the existance of a formula.
Rave on. What you are best at.

I think we all have to admire Biden. He is collecting dollars to be VP and apparently he is collecting tax dollars for rent from the Secret Service who have to watch him anyway. Their watching him is costing us tax dollars as well.
How much in federal taxes does Joe Biden have to pay on his VP salary? If it is enough to cover the expense of the rent being paid to him then I don't have a problem with it.
