Cons...would you rather a President who etches a sketch...

  • ...to win a nomination (will say anything...will bend to the will of the extremists within his party...will promise to veto his own brain child...)?? Or would you rather have a President who:

    1. Ended the Iraq War and redeployed resources to where the terrorists ARE ACTUALLY BASED.
    2. Killed OBL along with several other high value terrorists.
    3. Put Pakistan in it's place and went after the terrorists himself.
    3. Has kept our nation safe.
    4. Actually did something about our effed up healthcare system (even if you don't agree with the solution. Be carefull on this one...You know, the RomneyCare thing....)
    5. Averted a financial disaster.

Yeah, I figure this question is as easy for you to answer as Lars' flawed question was for me. We're all entrenched in our beliefs. Ain't no one budging, regardless of how you phrase these dumb questions.

Well, yeah, I let that one slide. I mean, if the lybruls really think the financial disaster has been averted and that this is a recovery, then yeah, I'd probably want to go for someone with higher standards of economic prosperity.

Speaking of that, has anyone checked if Mittens has a valid birth certificate?? Because that's likely to come up, and he doesn't look very American (code for white) to me. He's pretty tan.

I'm sure one of Mittens 13 grandmothers knows all about his birth certificate.

Put Pakistan in it's place? What world do you live in? They continue to take our aid, thumb their noses at us, harbor the terrorists who continue to kill our soliders, and shut our NATO supply lines every time they get their panties in a bunch, with no penalties from us. Obama has been a dismal failure on Pakistan.

Yeah, you're right. The regular stories we see about US drone attacks taking out Al-Qaeda leaders/forces whithin Pakistan (against the Pak govt' wishes) must be misprints.

The mission to find/capture/kill OBL 50 miles from the Pak capitol must've been a misprint.

I'm looking for an honest debate Bull, and you're failing me big time! The war on terror within the Pak border has been taken out of the hands of the Pak govt. There's no other way to sum it up.

Drone attacks put Pakistan in their place? Nope - they are a poor substitute for the fact that Pakistan refuses to root out the terrorists harbored in their country that continue to stage attacks in Afghanistan. If you think this is somehow a "success" be my guest. Obama slurpers have no limits apparently.

Oh I don't know. Barry's drones have killed any number of Pakistani civilians. Maybe Vlad considers that "putting them in their place?"

what do you expect from people whose motivation is not to support their candidate but to oppose the other candidate. We know their true motivation and it's not that they thing Mittens can do a better job.

Mitt Romney is tied with President Obama, according to a new Washington Post/ABC News poll, but the people who plan to vote for him are motivated more by their opposition to the president than by their support for the Republican challenger.

"The survey published Tuesday showed 47 percent of registered voters favor Obama and 47 percent prefer Romney. The former Massachusetts governor has closed a 3-point gap since the poll was conducted last, in May.

But if voters are moving toward Romney, it is not because they back him enthusiastically, the poll indicated. Fifty-nine percent of likely Romney voters characterized their decision as a vote against Obama; only 37 percent called it a vote for Romney.

By contrast, 75 percent of likely Obama voters called their choice a vote for the president and just 23 percent termed it a vote against Romney."

Well, to be fair, we've made them our problem.

I'm all for a strong national defense. And it should go without saying that no one wants to see terrorists strike on U.S. soil. But these piddly-ass drone strikes and police forces and other bullshit approaches make things worse, not better.

I can't possibly state this better than Ron Paul, who's position is:

    * Make securing our borders the top national security priority.

    * Avoid long and expensive land wars that bankrupt our country by using constitutional means to capture or kill terrorist leaders who helped attack the U.S. and continue to plot further attacks.

    * Guarantee our intelligence community’s efforts are directed toward legitimate threats and not spying on innocent Americans through unconstitutional power grabs like the Patriot Act.

    * End the nation-building that is draining troop morale, increasing our debt, and sacrificing lives with no end in sight.

    * Follow the Constitution by asking Congress to declare war before one is waged.

    * Only send our military into conflict with a clear mission and all the tools they need to complete the job – and then bring them home.
