Well apparently you missed all my serious answers.
Some nice critical thinking and investigative work there.
Madhatter degenerated the thread and i play along for fun.
He missed all your serious answers because you didn't give any. And I have had a great deal of fun dismantaling all your laughable attempts to prove you have a clue or proof about the existence of Jesus or God.
Keep thinking that---very few believe that outside of you and the ice cubes in your kool aid.
Have a good night.
Judging by the volume of posters that disagree with you, it looks like you are the one very few believe.
Well I'm sure he's brought a bunch of like minded people over to read this thread and proclaim that he did indeed prove things. I mean, I don't really see anyone actually agreeing with anything he's put forward. Of course that doesn't mean much to him. Where you fail is that you don't have a slew of posters responding directly to you saying how well you destroyed his argument. Therefore, because no actually said it, what you said is not true. You just have to ignore that no one has actually agreed with him. (It's that whole "Certain Point of View" thing that Obi Wan told Luke about!)
I have no interest in getting into the "my unprovable evidience is better than your unprovable evidence game", but in this one post you put four times as arguments "well, they preserved it for this long, so it has to be important". Whether you believe the Shroud is real or not, this argument is laughable.
People will preserve artifacts that they believe are important, and that is not in any way, shape, or form, any kind of proof that something is actually real. It just means that for a really long time, someone thought it was worth preserving. Watch an episode of Pawn Stars and you'll see 30 minutes of items with perceived importance being preserved for a long time. The Shroud being carefully preserved for hundres or even thousands of years just proves that it has been regarded as important, but it is not a form of proof. Also, the fact that is has been regarded as so important for so long, even if proven fake, it would still be a historical and famous artifact that would remain in preservation.
I don't need the validation of the others who agree with me like he seems to. I debunked his entire argument thoroughly and completely. That's good enough for me.
No you didn't, you didn't come close--the objective was to weigh the evidence on both sides, and I provided evidence on that it could be true. You provided no evidence.
I look at this as as a court room with evidence being presented and accepted or debunked and a learning experience for everyone.
Your main statement was "I don't have to prove it didn't exist." Except this was a fact finding mission where you failed. Then there was the "You can't prove negatives." Another cop out.
In factors others tried to prove or show evidence why it didn't exist like Gotham--who I respect. You on the other hand--did zero and tried to piggy-back and take credit for those who did try to disprove it.
Therefore you should pat on the back Gotham and others who tried to look at this objectively.
Except, you won't because you are always trying to save face. End of story.
In other words, Gotham stepped up for "your" side where you failed miserably.
But in his mind if others aren't openly quoting and agreeing with your posts then clearly they don't agree (not that you care) that YOU debunked him. (Maybe if you said "we've", he'd agree?.....Ahhh who am I kidding.) It's his classic move the goal posts and focus on one word to proclaim victory.
You, Gotham, and several others have shredded his arguments. No one has defended him in this thread. But in his little mind, no one believes he's been debunked....despite all the evidence to the contrary.
Respectively disagree, for the reasons two posts above.
However, i am not going to go back and forth about it.
I do give you credit for at least trying and listing possibilities where Madhatter didn't even try.
Exactly as I thought....you focus on one word and play semantics.
Face it Opti, pretty much every argument you have put forth regarding the shroud has been shredded either outright or by the simple common sense test. You fail to accept that and that's your choice...it just makes you look the fool.
As for going back to the whole Resurrection and whether Jesus existed. You are misapplying how it is like a court case. You are basically asking BOTH sides to be the prosecution and prove beyond a reasonable doubt one side or the other. That itself is impossible to do and not how it works in any court I've ever heard about.
This is presented as a "scientific" inquiry where the "hypothesis" is that Jesus and the Resurrection are real. Therefore, the null hypothesis is that He does not exist. And by definition, YOU CAN NEVER PROVE THE NULL HYPOTHESIS. You can only reject it. (As a claimed scientist, I would expect you to know this.) So by asking those who don't believe in the "hypothesis" of Jesus and the Resurrection to prove the null hypothesis is just silly on your part. In this case the burden of proof is clearly those proposing the hypothesis.
And while you have a lot of things that lean towards Jesus and the Resurrection, it still ultimately comes down to "faith" (i.e., lack of verifiable proof) to believe it.
See my post...you asking someone to prove a "null hypothesis" is just laughably stupid.
As a claimed scientist, I would expect you to know better.
I did not look at this as a scientific exploration as much as a legal preponderence of the evidence like a legal trial or court sitting.
You were totally owned by me and others in this thread. You never proved any of your assertions, not one. You just don't have the balls to admit it. Now you change tactics again and argue semantics to try to salvage your untenable position. You are truly pathetic.
And you failed miserably with this tactic too. Pathetic.
Look, I am not going back and forth, and i didn't read the whole thing, don't have time. I stand by what i said.
I can tell you similar mock trials to this are on TV all the time to try to explain the unexplainable. No one has perfect evidence or all the facts.
I'm leaving now because I am tired of getting my ass handed to me.
Have a nice day.
We haven't talked about the subject for a couple pages now, so we need to end this, although I am sure you'll want the last word.
This is hilarious. The guy who posts novels full of bullshit doesn't have the 30 seconds it takes to read a few short paragraphs in their entirety.
A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in.
He does not need the last word. You were owned over and over in this thread.
"No one cares what you know, until they know how much you care." Mark Dantonio
That's almost par for the course for people with untenable positions. They paint themselves in a corner with an argument and boldy assert it as true. When proven otherwise, rather than reassess and form a rebuttal to the argument, they restate the same thing! Eventually they stop participating even though it has their assertion that got everything started in the first place.
Don't worry, though. This will crop up again with the SAME arguments as soon as it is assumed everyone has forgotten them.
