That doesn't make it right. Why doesn't every city do this? If you work in Wixom, why don't you pay a city tax? I'm sure those munipalities could use the extra cash.
There's a time and a place for everything and it's called college.
You should claim it as a deduction next year.
You actually can claim local taxes paid as a deduction on your federal return if you itemize and aren't in AMT.
It's not Detroit's job to plow the freeways, unless you're taking surface streets in to town.
And since there's no multi-quote, last year I got my $7 Detroit tax refund check within a month of filing.

I also paid Detroit Income tax last year, however it was only like $400 for the year. Still a giant fucking waste though.
Ended up owing them exactly $16 last year. Seriously considered not paying it, but did.
I wish they stopped city taxes and taxed all the A-Holes that go to Corktown for that ridiculous Random Sunday in the Middle of March so-called Parade. Those people are a waste and should be ashamed of themselves.
