Time has a laughable over the top article in regards to this.
"...the fatal condition of being black."
Give me a fuckin break
1. It’s unlikely but possible that you could get killed today. Or any day. I’m sorry, but that’s the truth. Black maleness is a potentially fatal condition. I tell you that not to scare you but because knowing that could save your life.
Of course they did. What would you expect them to say? "So we may have accidentally given people like this a get-out-of-jail free card....whoops?" You didn't expect them to say that what he did was covered under the law, did you?
I seriously don't think it's a matter of IF he gets off, but WHEN he gets off. There is no way he will ever be charged because that would mean the Sanford cops blatantly let a murderer go and they will do everything and say anything necessary to cover up their mistake in letting him go. In case you haven't seen them, several "news" outlets are already smearing Martin and blaming him for instigating the attack. The NRA propaganda machine is in high gear defending Zimmerman.
well if he gets off wouldn't that mean he was justified in the shooting?
If you believe the justice system is perfect, then yes, that would be the case.
No. But if you believe that then you must also believe that only guilty people are ever convicted of a crime.
"Stand your ground" isn't sound law and there is a reason other states haven't rushed to pass similar legislation.
Numerous defense attorneys have stated it gave them a line defense they never had and even admit they think the law has been exploited.
If nothing else I'm betting Florida law makers revisit the law and create some limits as to were it can be used.
There was another case where a 14 year old shot a 19-20 year oldthief attempting to steal a jet sky from its mooring at a canal. The victim was not in the home, not attempting to get into the home, not attacking the shooter. He was trying to get the jet ski from its mooring. Plus he was deaf.
The law as written does say that the attacker has to be attacking in the home, business, or vehicle of the victim who can then reasonably use force to repel the attacker instead of retreating. Unfortunately, with the push provided by the NRA, the judges in Florida have mis-applied the law consistently to say that no one in any circumstance has to retreat. Even the legislator who forced the law through says it is being mis-interpreted and mis-applied. And that is why Zimmerman will get off without being charged.
I don't know how over the top it is. I mean I was drawn down on by the cops twice by the time I was 19. First time, too young & dumb to realize the danger I was in until I, against instructions, turned to see the officers down on one knee aiming at me and the other when I was too terrified to properly comply with the officers when I already saw them drawing on me. I was HS/college freshman nerd from the burbs, wasn't prepared to handle either situation. Could've easily made the wrong dumb/nervous move and been put down. The reason for the stops, I fit the description.
Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance
do you guys know how to read? Stand your ground, not chase and shoot, The law does not apply in this case.
Well according to this new mysteriously unidentified witness Martin attacked him after Zimmerman approached him, so that's where they're claiming the Stand Your Ground defense.
According to the Sanford cops, it does. That is why Zimmerman will get away with cold blooded murder.
Will the Southern Poverty Law Center be adding the New Black Panther Party to their list of dangerous militias seeing as how the NBPP has form one to track down Zimmerman?
Like you do in lilly white West MI?
A good first step would be to, you know, CHARGE THE FUCKER. The kid was unarmed and apparently did not accost the guy that shot him before he was confronted by the guy. Why the fuck has he not been charged? Something stinks here, seriously.

It is ALWAYS a great day to be a Spartan!!!!
West Michigan is hardly lily white. But then truth and facts mean very little to you and your fellow travelers.
So to you, thats a clear sign of mental illness? LOL
Look, I am not defending this guy. He seems to have some severe issues. Whenever someone is told by dispatch to not pursue someone, and then they do, and the person ends up dead, it is a very bad situation for the guy who did the following.
On the outside, it looks like Zimmerman acted outside the law. But, I was not there, and am not privy to all the facts.
Before I say he's guilty, he needs his due process. But if the prelim reports are true, doesn't look good for ole Zimmy.
Zimmerman not in jail because he was attacked and police say all evidence, his wounds and including witnesses substantiate this.
And unless Michael Nifong was hired into their prosecutors office, Zimmerman should be free.
Question authority. Power to the people
But the law apparently applies to the facts of the case, and not the urban myths being spread by hate groups.
Uh oh, the libs aren't going to like this...
With a single punch, Trayvon Martin decked the Neighborhood Watch volunteer who eventually shot and killed the unarmed 17-year-old, then Trayvon climbed on top of George Zimmerman and slammed his
Guess having the 911 people tell Zimmerman to cease following the victim and then Zimmerman stopping his vehicle, getting out of his vehicle to cause an altercation went right past you.
You are a bright one.
Naw, Zimmy shouldn't have followed the guy.
However, Zimmy didn't break any laws by disregarding dispatch telling him not to follow Trayvon.
So, in short, Zimmy shouldn't have followed Trayvon, but he did, which wasn't illegal and now witnesses are corroborating his story.
Doesn't look like he will get arrested. And, BTW, I agree that Zimmy is a real piece of work for following Trayvon but it the witnesses accounts are true, he won't be charged.
This story is nothing more than the cops concocting a story to explain why they screwed up and didn't arrest Zimmerman. Martin was walking fast to get away from Zimmerman who was chasing him, then we are supposed to believe that Zimmerman stopped the chase, turned around and then Martin turned around to confront him? Yeah, if you swallow that line of crap, I have a bridge in northern Michigan I would like to sell you.
Trayvon told his girlfriend he was walking fast to get away from Zimmerman, so he was definitely in flight mode. I find it impossible to believe that Zimmerman decided to stop chasing Trayvon and walk away and then Trayvon decided at that point to attack Zimmerman. It goes beyond all credibilty and anyone who thinks that is what happened is crazy. I find it much more plausible that Zimmerman caught Trayvon, grabbed him, hit him and at that point Trayvon fought back causing Zimmerman to kill him and claim self defense. The so called witnesses are obviously police plants to cover up the cops screwing up and letting Zimmerman go. Zimmerman will get away with cold blooded first degree murder because the cops are never going to admit they screwed up.
Here is my point...you are speculating how it went down. I understand that your speculation could me a possibility of what happened, but it could also not be how it went down.
The problem is this...if Zimmerman's defense has eye witnesses to back his story, and all the prosecution has is a phone call with the g/f as he was walking away, they don't have much of a case. The phone call ended before said skirmish takes place.
Like I said, Zimmerman is a whackjob it appears, and shouldn't have followed the kid, but being a whackjob isn't illegal and following someone in public isn't illegal either.
