They primaried him for his beliefs, he had to run as an independent for crying out loud, but you're right, they're the tolerant bunch.
I never said that. My point was when it comes to tolerating dissent within the party the Democrats are bad but still MUCH better than the GOP. I'm not sure how anyone can honestly argue with that.

You ran off a guy who had a distinguished career for 40 years because he like John McCain on defense which he believed was the issue of the day. It's not like he committed some major ethical transgression, he simply disagreed ideologically. Seriously is there a single pro life Dem at the federal level?
The GOP didn't have the same folks choosing candidates in 2000. Given the tenor of the '12 campaign I wonder if Cheney would have been selected for VP. The GOP has a schism between the live and let live libertarian wing and the Southern evangelical Christians they have courted since '68.
