Because you can't.
Why not ban adultery? Adulterers have violated the sanctity of marriage more than gay couples ever have/will.
So if sanctity of marriage is the big issue, then how come we don't see more conservatives trying to make divorce and adultery illegal?
tRCMB - Visit at your own risk of being disgusted.
I'm guessing you didn't realize the banning of adultery would be entirely in line with your logic to ban assault weapons
Pretzel logic yes.
My guess would be that conservatives accept that man is not a perfect being and is subject to making mistakes in life. With regard to adultery, I think those who most object to gay marriage are Christians and therefore attach the stigma of it to that which would be somewhat tantamount to illegality. Most people who get divorced and/or commit adultery probably aren't against gay marriage ( just a guess on my part )
Obvious syllogism is obvious

I read the President's plan.
Quite the "agenda".
Conservatives support bans on gay marriage because of the message it sends. Same with liberals (and conservatives) who support bans on assault rifles.
For me, gun issues really aren't that big of deal. But I'm willing support the common sense regulations because they may have some effect and it sends a good message. Plus, I don't see much downside. You have to do a lot more to convince me that something like limiting a clip size is taking away your freedom or hindering the quality of your life. To me that's like saying speed limits are taking away my freedom and quality of life. It's just not that big of a deal. Sorry.
If it's any consolation Hannity doesn't know the difference between a magazine or a clip either.
You would hope the Commander in Chief would, but maybe expectations are low these days...
That's pretty much what the gun grabbers are counting on. People that don't know the difference between clips and magazines or full auto and semi auto.
Actually divorce rates are higher in conservative states. The same states with populations who don't support gay marriage.
