Why don't you guys give Ray Lewis as much shit for his pronounced love of God as you do Tim Tebow?
Because that would be racist.
Tebow is an odd case I think.
- he makes large sums of money to play a position that he doesn't seem to have the talent to play
- despite this he often wins games (or at least did at Denver)
- these two incongruous facts would make him controversial even without him wearing his religion on his sleeve
- he's very public about his virginity, which most males over the age of fifteen find very odd
- he chose to use his fame to comment on abortion in a very high profile way
I bet Tebow is a very likable guy in person so I feel bad he catches some of the flack that he does. That being said I'd be willing to bet that there are players of say the Muslim faith that get some hate mail that would put anything that Tebow has to deal with to shame.
Because Ray Lewis can hunt me down and kick my ass.
So atheists don't hate God or people who preach about God, but they hate virgins and pro-life people?
And as for large sums of money to play positions without the talent to do so - I look forward to the atheists protesting the next Lions game. I think that described half the team.
I agree with Al. I think atheists are just scared that Ray Lewis will stab them.
I only saw him do it once. It was hilarious. Does he do it a lot?
I gain equal hilarity from all crazy bible-bashing Americans .
I do. Stop
What is that, a Titleist? A hole in one...
Atheists have a problem with religious folk when they disregard science in favor of creationism. Also the fact that a large number of religious folk -- especially Christians -- are pro life (that's perfectly fine with me) but then disregard a human being after birth. Pretty hypocritical if you ask me.
He's more likely to have his boys stab you, but either way. I agree with this.
So are you telling me Ray Lewis isn't pro life? Heck, the dude has 6 kids with 4 baby mommas - he's clearly not in to abortion.
Maybe someone at media day should have asked Ray Lewis how old the earth is.
This is strange. How many atheists do you know and have you experienced this with ? I think they are both silly to think god helps them but Tebows religious views are much more public than Ray Lewis. Also...at least Ray Lewis is not a virgin.

I'm an agnostic, which many would deem "close enough," and I much prefer Tebow to Ray Lewis. This judgment has little to do with their religious persuasions, and more to do with what I judge their respective characters to be based on the evidence available. Say what you will about Tebow's proselytizing, but he seems a rather unlikely candidate to get into a fight at a party that results in somebody getting stabbed. He also seems like less of a hypocrite because of this.

A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in.
I'm an atheist.
I do not hate Tim Tebow.
I do think Tim Tebow is a very odd example of a twenty something American male.
Where exactly have you seen the atheists who hate Tim Tebow?
I don't know about anyone else, but Ray Lewis is a much scarier dude than Timmy, so if he wants to believe in god, then he can believe in god; I am not going to disagree with him (at least not to his face).

"No one cares what you know, until they know how much you care." Mark Dantonio
You should form a club. There can't be more than 12 of you in all of Iowa.
Find us one. We just think he's hilarious.
Good timing. You and Enrico have your bedrooms covered with Tebow posters with darts in them (and maybe lipstick). Some real scary deep rooted hatred shit. Successful white religious male = very scary.
I don't disagree with his (or Tebow's) religious practices, I disagree with Ray Lewis' killing people practices.
tRCMB - Visit at your own risk of being disgusted.
travelin man truly a paranoid white guy or is it just a schtick?
Technically it was "atheists" so they'd have to find at least two right?
If the quote was why do atheists think Tebow is silly and not Ray Lewis there would be plenty I think.
Hate is a different matter entirely.
He lived down the road from me when he was a Bronco, threw the ball with my kid. Nice guy. Hilarious jesusy beliefs, but nice guy .
Some people mistake derision for hatred, though the distinction seems obvious to the rest of us...
Christians agree with all of this. If they know God at all.

Is this REALLY about the difference between hatred and derision?
