Should we start training teachers to use handguns? Should they carry them like law enforcement to protect our children? What say you RCMB ... Let the debate begin!!!
i think if they're willing to take on that responsibility then yes.

As a teacher, I say no. Kids get into everything and it opens up the chance that someone forgets to lock it up properly. Plus I think only police should have guns anyway. No good has ever came from guns in my family. Others will disagree but just my thoughts.
Currently in my state, Virginia, a teacher can have a gun in their car in the parking lot but not in the actual school. I would feel better for my kids if we had a few armed teachers.
what if the kids find her car keys?
If my teachers had guns, one of them would have shot me. So mark me down as opposed.
I am not a teacher so your comments may change my view so please tell me what you think. The teacher would have to have the gun on a belt like a cop. It would never leave their person. Is that possible?
absolutely not. i could give you a ton of reasons why it would be a bad idea. put a cop in your schools instead.
We barely pay them enough to make the profession attractive, now we should ask them to be security guards as well?
I must be crazy to be in a loony bin like this.
Not a bad idea!
How many times do we need to go over this, Places that have gun restrictions have more gun crimes and places that encourage carrying guns have less crime. This should be a no brainier.
Why not take it a step further and give the elementary students guns? Also, when was the last time that we heard about a mass shooting being stopped because someone took it upon themselves to shoot the dude who's about to shoot everyone? Just because other people have guns doesn't mean they'll be able to use them.
by that logic you should hire an armed guard to follow your kids where ever they go......
Hey creationist stoner boy.......please site a scientifically accurate study to support your wild claims.......
If only these children had their CCW permits! We need more guns for children! Won't someone think of the children?!
Armed teachers? really?
The world becomes more absurd every day.
How long before a teacher shoots a kid and uses the "stand your ground" law as a defense? (Yes, I live in Florida.) Honestly, you are opening up a huge hornets' nest. ... As to the whole debate as to whether the world is made safer by having MORE people carry MORE guns: we have more guns per capita than almost any other country, and we are infamous for our level of violence. At a glance, the premise seems shaky, but I guess I'm not willing to treat yet another gun-related tragedy as a chance to argue with people who want more guns. It's like the post-tragedy tragedy.

That's what they're gonna do AFTER they start another war in the Middle East and then go on strike against the moochers. ... But it's on their To-Do list.
What do security guards make? You've got me interested.
Screw gun control jus raise taxes! Each district can buy state of the art metal detectors for all of their schools. All visitors will have to remove their belts and shoes becore entering. Districts can hire a bunch of TSA (aka rent a cops) for daily pat downs and minute by minute video monitoring.
Remember freedom is not free.
I'm serious. I'd bet that the same people who would suggest that teachers should be armed were not long ago labeling them incompetent, lazy and over-paid.
Uh, I don't think so. "The rate of gun-related homicides in the United States is 10 times that of other NATO nations" (Tampa Bay Times, 12-15). The editorial doesn't say what the per-capita ownership of guns is in the United States vs. those countries, but I'd bet a $25 donation to the NRA or a gun control organization that the NATO countries' count is WAY lower.
What I think you mean is that once the NRA and like-minded people flood a country with guns, then it's at least somewhat debatable whether having people carry concealed weapons improves their chances of surviving. But notice, you have to turn a country into a total clusterfuck to make that debate even somewhat plausible.
I would totally trust teachers like the MSU prof who got naked in class with guns.
