According to "Social Security chief actuary Steve Goss, disability insurance program reserves will run out of money in 2016." Maybe this is why Homeland Security is buying all the ammo and Armored Vehicles when that fund runs out?
Fraught with fraud that churns out 14 million checks every month to citizens the government has deemed disabled.
“Since the economy began its slow, slow recovery in late 2009, we’ve been averaging about 150,000 jobs created per month,” said Joffe-Walt in an Public Radio International (PRI) “This American Life” interview. “In that same period every month, almost 250,000 people have been applying for disability.”
- The federal government spends more money each year on cash payments for disabled former workers than it does on food stamps and welfare combined; America’s two largest disability programs, including health care for disabled workers, costs taxpayers $260 billion a year
- In some parts of the country, such as Hale County, Alabama, one out of every four working-age adults collects a disability check
- As of 2011, 33.8% of newly diagnosed disabled workers cited “back pain and other musculoskeletal problems” as their reason for being unable to work. In 1961, the top reason for being disabled was “heart disease, stroke”
- Disabled workers do not get counted in the unemployment figures. If they did, the numbers would be far higher
- Less than 1% of people who went on disability at the beginning of 2011 have returned to the workforce
- The Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program—which covers kids and adults—has exploded. SSI is now seven times larger than it was 30 years ago.

If the conservatives hadn't gutted all the workplace safety rules that prevented employers from forcing workers to do unsafe things and getting injured on the job the number of disabled workers would be much lower. But since you conservatives think of employers as Gods who need no regulating, you are now reaping the result of all your deregulation. The truly sad fact is that you think disabled workers should just die quickly instead of receiving care or compensation.
Those god damned handicappers!!!! If there's one thing that's destroying the country it's the disabled people. Just the other day I saw a person with no legs parking in a handicap spot and I thought to myself, what a lazy free loader. Bunch of parasites these 47%!!! There's a quadroplegic that lives on my block, he's so fucking lazy that he rides around in an electric wheel chair all day. The nerve of some people!
Seriously though, right to work will fix everything, without any unions to bitch about silly things like OSHA regulations the work place will definitely be more dangerous and more people will be getting hurt. OSHA is toothless nowadays anyways.
Romney's speech about the slave labor camp he bought in China comes to mind, I bet those people never complain about un safe working conditions. It's part of what made it such a "good investment" for Mittens.
I agree that disability is the new permanent unemployment.
Agreed. Until that runs out. Then what?
So, roughly 4% of the population is disabled? I'm sure that they voted for Obama so they could continue to get their free stuff, next thing you know all these parasites will want to take all the good parking spaces at the mall. You break your neck in an accident? Why should society support you after that? Let them crawl around in the gutter.
I remember what Jesus said about this in the bible, "Cripples? Oh man, I just hate the crippled, bunch of lazy fakers in my book, those parasites are going to inherit my foot up their ass if they don't make themselves useful." Leon 3:16. That's what he said right?
What we as a society need to think about is what kind of nutrients we can extract from these handicappers' bodies.
You don't even have the slightest clue what the disability scam industry is all about. Hint....you couldn't tell the vast majority of "disabled" people by looking at them. Read and learn...shillboy.
Social Security Disability is a bloated system that must be reformed
Egotism is the anesthetic that dulls the pain of stupidity. - Frank Leahy.-- If you're going to be stupid, be smart about it. - Mike Milbury
What's wrong, it gives these people more time to attend tea party rallies.
The disabled will bankrupt America!
"Low information" doesn't quite explain it anymore. This is more like an alternate reality.
This coming from a guy who in the same thread thinks it's perfectly OK to fire someone because they're gay.
The sad part is this shouldn't be a conservative vs. liberal issue. It's fraud, and it should be criminally prosecuted. These people are stealing from you, me and everyone else who works for a living. But since Obama is pres, this isn't a problem for you to worry about.
First page of the Mississippi thread.
I asked you that question.. and you answered 86% of the people in Mississippi think it's fine, who am I to tell them they're wrong?
To any logical thinking human, that would mean you're perfectly OK with that happening. But please, go ahead and try to weasel you're way out of it.
Care to take another stab you worthless insecure bigot?
I agree there...if there is indeed fraud, those doing it must be prosecuted. (Of course, you'd probably have to go after a shit ton of shyster lawyers as well.)
Why don't offshore tax havens for corporations outrage you guys as much as poor people getting on disability? Both are "legal" and both "rob" from us - yet you condone one but not the other.
Who says it isn't a problem?
What bullwinky fails to mention is the fraud is perpetrated by the providers, not the recipients.
It is criminally prosecuted. Have a friend who made a career as a PI catching disability and insurance fraud. It's a Federal crime, if found guilty, you could face fines up to $250,000 and/or five years in prison. Some states can put you in prison for up to 30 years for it.
Of course the laws should be enforced, but again, the reason why Cons are bringing it up is because the super rich want them to blame the mouse who is stealing the crum of the floor while at the same time the rich are walking away with the whole damn house.
The people we need to be sending to prison for 30 years work on Wall Street.
Clearly with more people being added to SS disability than are finding work under Obama, that they aren't prosecuting this. Get it yet Johnny Shillboy?
Providers of what you idiot? This is about people filing for disability who aren't disabled, they're just lazy.
Unsafe working conditions?
Man dude what world do you come from? This place is worth it just because of you.
