"Over the fierce protests of this city’s elected leaders, the State of Michigan plans to send an emergency manager to repair the deeply troubled finances of Detroit, one of the largest cities ever to reach such a dire point or to face such a level of oversight."
Gov. Rick Snyder of Michigan announced on Friday that the city of Detroit is so snarled in financial woes that the state must appoint an emergency manager to lead it out of disaster.
If only there was another thread where this topic was currently being discussed...
Sad enough to post again. Liberal Policy - uninhibited - destroys - everything. Fact.
Oh, fun I can play this game too..
"Conservative" policy - uninhibited - destroys the global economy. Fact.
Both parties are fucked and don't give a shit about anything other than maintaining enough power to keep the cash rolling in. Anyone that tows either parties' line as much as you do without getting paid for it is a sucker. I sincerely hope you are cashing checks for spending as much time and posting as much moronic bullshit here as you do.
Question authority. Power to the people
Yes you are, on so many levels.
I agree with you about both parties interested in maintaining enough power to keep the cash rolling in. I live in the most corrupt state in the nation - Deep, dark blue Illinois. Elected Democrats here get rich, fast. And get re-elected because they 'care'. They only care about themselves and getting re-elected with bribes, sweetheart deals and enriching their friends while systematically destroying this state financially. Not surprisingly, that same approach has devastated Detroit. Are you blind? The results are right in front of you. Spend a night driving near Liberal Icon and aptly named Coleman A Young airport if you have the balls.
As for Detroit, what conservative policies have ever been applied to cause what is currently happening to that once great city? Name one.

I wasn't referring to Detroit in my comment about conservative principles blowing up the world economy. I was talking about Greenspan (and others) decades of conservative backed deregulation and overall market philosophy that facilitated the greatest transfer of wealth from public to private hands in history. A fraud/theft that we are still paying for everyday.
It's sad that the "progressives" haven't done a damn thing to address the root causes when they've had the chance but let's not forget where these principles came from.
Easy Mr. Marx.... Can you please tell me how George Soros - one of the key supporters and icons of 'progressive' (aka regressive) causes got so wealthy?
Any your non-response of how Detroit got to where it is just validates my point.
Nice to see you support the dictatorship of ricky and his minions over the democratic process.
So where do you live in Detroit?
Democracy in Detroit is institutionalized corruption, irresponsibility, unaccountability and perpetually bad policy - resulting in the most-crime ridden, unsafe, proven economic failure and a complete disaster.
Drastic results require drastic measures..... Last I checked, the City of Detroit sits within the State of Michigan boundaries and receives state funding....
Everyone likes emergency managers as long as they are in other people's municipalities and school districts.
Funny how the same folks crowing about emergency managers are the same whining about President Obama's overreaching.
And when your finances and life tanked - who did you rely on to bail your ass out for your irresponsibility and unaccountability?? Yep - the rest of us. Same thing.
How is that 'entitlement' check Capt.Taker? Feeling an ounce guilty you made shitty life decisions requiring you to take?
You are an embarrassment to every real Veteran. Now go burn your stars and stripes and have a pleasant evening. Rest assured your next 'entitlement 'check will arrive on time. Regardless of what your Liar/Blamer in Chief will tell us.
Not me. I prefer Detroit go through bankruptcy.
'Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable'
- President John F. Kennedy
'As Gov. Rick Snyder detailed his plan Friday to have an emergency manager run Detroit from a public television studio in the city, state lawmakers were meeting in a nearby building on the campus of Wayne State University for a luncheon.
Sitting next two each other were two sons of former mayors, state Rep. Phil Cavanagh and Sen. Coleman Young Jr., who digested the governor's message that the city needs a turnaround expert after 50 years of decline.
Jerome Cavanagh was mayor in 1962-70, while Coleman Young led the city in 1974-1992.
"I turned to Coleman and said, 'Well, I guess our dads are to blame," Cavanagh said with tongue-in-cheek as the emergency manager finger-pointing got underway.
"The fact of the matter is the state has neglected the city of Detroit," Young said Friday. "(Snyder) knew somebody was in the water; he could have thrown a life raft to that person and he didn't."'
translation: none this would have happened if state taxpayers had simply subsidized decades of public corruption in Detroit. Of course, it never occured to Mssrs. Cavanagh and Young that maybe they could get real jobs and pay real taxes like most people, instead of living off the popularity of their well-known fathers...
Who is at fault for Detroits minority party.
So you're okay with ricky and his minions making the entire state a dictatorship. Got it.
So you agree with me that Detroit should be left to declare bankruptcy?
A managed bankruptcy might be the best solution. Unfortunately, if Detroit sinks it could sink the entire state. Making Michigan a dictatorship is still not the correct solution no matter how badly rocksinhishead thinks it is.
Soooo much corruption. Soooo much stupid.
I worked as an engineer for some projects in Detroit. I was given a snapshot of how things work in that little world. Lemme tell yeh, it was freaking backwards. They were using construction processes/standards that were straight from the 1950's.
I recall getting a little chippy with a contractor, saying "WTH are you doing?!?"
He looked back at me, blank face, "This is City of Detroit standards."
He was right.
So you don't like doing things that meet code requirements. Thanks for being honest about it. Now we know not to hire you.
You have no clue and a chickenshit little ass like yourself never will. Now go back to being an employee and think you have all the answers.
People like you make me sorry that people have served died so you can spew but that's the country we live in. We even accept the fact we have a volunteer military so chickenshit keyboard warriors like yourself can rpost on how great America is with ZERO sacrifice.
When you get a DD214 we can meet up and compare. Until then you are pond scum.
Sounds like your entitlement check was late again....
You are an embarrassment to anyone that really served.
This from a kid who was too chicken to even consider the military.
Too chicken? I registered as legally required and would have gone in a heartbeat if needed.... But never called.
And you served.....when?
Surely hiring an honest person is not in your best interest. You can hire a lying cheat - birds of a feather right?
Thanks for admitting you were to chicken to enlist.
