Do any of you GOP slappy's think Romney will beat Obama?

  • If you do, avoid Vegas or any casino at all costs. Hell, avoid bingo halls too.

    And don't play the lotto.

Unlikely but it would be a real improvement for the GOP to land a catch like griffin. Beats the frothy substance anyday of the week.

Not a GOP slappy, but unfortunately no he won't beat Hussein.

Hang on to your jobs tightly.

  • I am comfortable that it doesn't make a bit of difference. An oversized government, that is deeply intertwined with big business is our steady state and here we are, reduced to whining about college girls and their birth control.

  • I absolutely do think Romney can win. That being said, I don't see a whole lot changing regardless. We're currently in Year 5 of a, " Lost Economic Decade", and things are going to be fucked regardless. Interest rates won't even begin rising till 2014, and that is when we will see actual real growth.

But you'll still vote. And you'll still vote Republican.

What makes you think that Romney can win based on the continuing improved economy and unemployment and most important the polls that strongly say otherwise?

  • Romney's too vulnerable. He's already given the libs too many sound bites for their attack ads. Not giving the fact that there's eight more months of him making more mistakes. SNL is having a field day with his gaffes. He's done. Add to the fact he's a Mormon. I highly doubt the electorate is going to vote for somebody who believes in the magic underwear. All Obama has to do is coast and let him hang himself, which he's slowly doing. Add in Limbaugh making the GOP look like a bunch of clowns, and you's got a landslide for Obama.

  • I certainly think he can win.

Just have to remember that the independents are where the winning votes come from. I think Romney can make up some ground here

Also, I am not sure the level of motivation on the liberal side is there again..... I think the race will always be close enough that motivation will be a factor. Obama's base is not better off financially than they were 4 years ago, hope and change has not come their way..... I also think that Romney's personal political beliefs are almost irrelevant with the base, they are motivated as anti-Obama, not pro-Romney.

I think we're Romney makes up some ground is with the center...... He can go further to the center on message than Obama can.....

I think Obama's base is better off financially than 4 years ago. And what makes you think that this demographic believes that Romney is going to bat for them? He seems completely out of touch with the middle class and poor in this country and Obama will pounce all over that.

I think that Obama's base would never vote R so Romney is irrelevant in that discussion.

Debatable about whether they are better off or not, key is their turnout..... Are they motivated?

    If Romney's the nominee: TBD.
If Santorum's the nominee: Will be as motivated as 2008 if not more so.

Romney will have an easy time winning over the independents who voted for Obama in 2008. This is a large percentage of voters, and they are far from being content with the current situation.

No kidding. Obama's 2008 landslide happened not only because of discontentment with Bush, but also because it was obvious that McCain was thrown out there as the sacrificial lamb candidate by the RNC.

The Obama camp is a lot more worried about Romney than they're currently letting on.

What makes you think that? Have home prices rebounded? Have real inflation adjusted wages increased? Have underwater mortgages resurfaced? Have consumer debt loads lightened?

Between his trillion dollar deficits, high unemployment, stagnant economic growth, high gas prices, Iran threats etc....Obama has quite the record of achievement to run on. Any coherent opposition candidate should tear him to shreds in the debates, unfortunately it doesn't appear the Republicans have one of those.

Solid username, but that "sacrificial lamb" theory doesn't explain why independents went for Obama '08. His perceived handling of the financial crises in the fall is what tipped the scales.

To date Obama is only running against himself. If/when the GOP chooses Romney then he only poses a threat to Obama if the economy stumbles.

New poll has Obama at a 50% approval rate and BHO has a 50% to 44% over Romney in the general election.

You should not be so optimistic about how Independent voters will cast their ballots:

    http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970203550304577135023288124442.html

Ultimately the election will be decided on turnout which has been a Democratic strength lately and the economy which is improving. Nearly every recent poll has Obama significantly ahead of Romney. Romney is flawed in so many ways and Obama will beat him up on these issues not to mention the huge war chest he has.

Nope, mittens isn't going to win over the independents. We see him for what he actually is, nothing but a liar and a panderer who doesn't know what he really stands for. Obama is not going to lose to mittens, or any other gopper. He has been a disappointment in a lot of ways, but he is still way better than any gopper. That being said, I am still determined to vote the Communist ticket.
