Do you care about the religion of your future wife?

After reading the thread about Catholics not eating meat during lent, it got me thinking. I'm wondering, do most guys actually choose a wife based on religion? I honestly don't think I could get married to a female who is devout in any religion, but some are definitely better than others. I was brought up Catholic, but IMO true believer Catholic girls are fucking nuts and will eventually make you want to put a gun in your mouth. Same with Southern Baptist females. I could actually marry a Jewish girl if she was naturally good looking. Not sure I'd ever get involved with any type of Muslim.
I'm wondering, did or will religion come into play when you choose a girl to spend the last 50 years of your life with? Are we as a society past religion being a major determinant of anything?

As an addendum, Catholic females are no good because their mothers basically tell them to find a guy to breed with, and then as soon as they have some kids and have him hooked in, they can start treating him like absolute shit.

Absolutely not. I don't practice any religion so it'd be hypocritical of me to assume my future wife has to be a certain religion.

This probably will end up in Wells fairly quickly, but...
If I have any intention of having kids, I would probably only marry a Christian (non-Mormon) or maybe an Atheist. Otherwise, I wouldn't really care, so long as I'm not pressured into conversion and their religious beliefs/traditions are not disruptive to my life. For instance, I could marry a Muslim, as long as she didn't expect me to fast with her during Ramadan.

I don't really care, as long as it's not going to interfere with our relationship. Dating a girl who is a muslim brigs the culture of Islam with her. walking ten paces behind me, seen not heard, wrapping herself up, would be a major problem because I want an equal partner in a relationship. But catholics or protestants or jews or whatever, not a big deal.

I don't really care, but if they're super religious we probably wouldnt see eye to eye. I think op is right that religion is losing its luster in society, and in a few generations will likely have little impact.
One other thing is I wouldn't want my wife forcing religion down my kids throats. I had my communion and all that, but ultimately it was my choice and I just don't buy it. But a wife like my grandma who places going to church over anything else I could accomplish would drive me nuts.

I didn't choose my wife based on her religion but we met because we practice the same faith and met at our religious community center. Prior to that I dated woman based on if I found them physically attractive and interesting without regard for religion. You figure that part out once and if a relationship develops.

I only had three criteria, she had to be an atheist, have a PhD, and be a D-cup or larger. Happily married for 12 years now .

Really doesn't matter to me as long as neither of us (i.e. the female) are a religious extremist. There would obviously be the issue of under which religion to raise potential children, but hoping that at that point in our lives we would be adults about it.

If you don't care you will be in for huge problems at some point . Who will do the marriage ceremony , expectations for children, children s religion just for starters. Compatibility with a spouse's religion or lack of is huge part of a successful marriage.
