I am against gay marriage.

    Nice job.

This country was built by people who worked hard then went home and had just a few too many every night. Then went back to work.

Why in 2008 did you vote for somebody who didn't like gay people?

You're such the typical lib. Jump all over someone for saying they believe in the biblical definition of marriage, but you won't touch it when Muslim's condemn gays to death. You're entirely comfortable with Boston's Mayor Menino condemning Chick Fil A, yet when he gives a couple million dollar piece of property to a Muslim group who counts among their spiritual advisers an Imam whose position on homosexuality is "evolving" as follows:

“A homosexual should be given the same punishment as any sexual pervert . . . Some say we should throw them from a high place, like God did with the people of Sodom. Some say we should burn them.”

    http://bostonherald.com/news/opinion/op_ed/view.bg?articleid=1061148809

It only took Obama one election cycle to have his position evolve to the point he was okay with gay marriage, how long do you think Mayor Menino's buddy will take to decide if gay people should be put to death by throwing them from a high place or burning them?

You confront the one not because it makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, but because you know there is no downside to it. You won't confront the other-you can't argue that a group who condemns people to death is far worse then a person saying they don't support gay marriage-because you fear the response. And we know it's the latter, because in multiple posts you have made the claim you stand some 6'4" tall, and yet people have no qualms about walking up-according to your accounts, of course-and hurling racial insults at your wife. Nope, easier for you to sit on a message board, condemn people who aren't going to respond in a violent manner, puff your chest by using some swear words, and whistle past the graveyard when it comes to real intolerance.

damn, you are one angry, hateful little excuse for a man.

Sorry, I think all religion is bullshit and basing any law on fictional books is crap. I didn't know about the Boston Muslim stuff so how could I be defending it? I don't give a damn what Muslims think, I don't give a damn about what Christians think. Let them live in their fantasy world where the dude in the sky tells them who to hate, chooses who wins sporting events, and chooses who lives and dies when some psycho shoots up a movie theater but keep it out of policy making. I haven't said anything about Boston, I don't give a fuck about Boston. It's a city with an incredible inferiority complex that I laugh at. I dislike all of their sports teams (but do enjoy Harpoon Beer. Tasty stuff, especially when they let me drink out of the tank!). I do know that MY mayor criticized them for their stance against Hate-Fil-A and he stood up against conservatives to allow Muslims to build their community center when it was Christians who wanted to stop it.

As for the stuff about my wife, more fantasy from you. I didn't know her in middle and high school so how could I say something to the white bigots she had to deal with? Keep on living in your deluded world, vator88. Maybe rageoholics anonymous is a good first step for you?

  • Men and women are different. As such both a father and mother bring something unique to a marriage and parenting that the other can't based on gender. I believe that as fathers, men offer a role that is unique and best filled by a male. Same for mothers. To say that a union of two men or two women is equivalent to a union between a man and a woman is to deny gender differences. Perhaps the end of gender distinctions is the ultimate goal of those favoring gay marriage.

Disclaimer: I have NOT said that gay men or women cannot be excellent parents. I have NOT said that gay people are not entitled to equal rights.

But you wouldn't have been allowed to do so if your wife was also your sister, 1st cousin, Mom, or other close relation. You would have not been able to do so if your wife was 15 years old.

Yeah, it's sort of a dumb argument, but technically correct.

There are pretty clear reasons for that right?
    - in one case the person isn't old enough to make a legally binding decision
    - in other cases you significantly increase the chances of genetic problems

Neither of those apply in the case of homosexual marriage between adults.

Why is sexual attraction the defining issue in being able to marry? Why shouldn't two people of the same sex be allowed to marry and combine households even though they might be heterosexual? Perhaps they have a very deep friendship, one or both are single parents, and they think it would be best to combine as a family unit for reasons other then sexual attraction. In fact, they may keep seperate rooms, and engage in heterosexual romantic relationships outside their 'marriage'. Why do you insist that sexual attraction be the defining component of a marriage? Further, if gay marriage is okay-I'm not saying it is or it isn't-how does one deny people who want to live in a polygamous or polyamorous marriage?

If we legalize homosexual marriage wouldn't that in practice make allowance for your first example?

Who says I'm insisting that sexual attraction be the defining characteristic for marriage....I don't think I ever said that?....heck there are a lot of elderly folks who don't have sex anymore that are married...I'm good with that.

Someone would have to work out the tax consequences of polygamy but hey...I'm ok with that too.

Do you think men should have the right to marry 5 women at the same time? ( assuming they suffered brain damage at some point in their life )\

Can you explain to me why religious people are allowed to just pick parts of the bible to lose their minds over ?

"You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination. " = Gay people cant marry and people freak out

"And he that curseth his father, or his mother, shall surely be put to death." = crickets. Shouldnt you be out killing peoples kids that disrespect them ?

Because that particular verse is derived from the Torah which is rejected by Christians because it includes the teachings of Paul which corrupted Jesus

I really don't want this turned into a biblical debate, but jesus actually uses this "commandment of god" when he is bitching out the people from Jerusalem that are messing with him. I assume Christians these days still follow the gospel of Matthew

For God said, "Honour your father and your mother" and "Anyone who curses his father or mother will be put to death."

Here is another great story about the tolerance of Christians.

You should be proud as a christian.

I believe you are the one who said:

"why you are against homosexuals being allowed to marry?"

You'll have to pardon me for assuming that you wish to define marriage as a relationship between people who, regardles of hetero or homo orientation, wanted to have sex with one another.

Please explain to me where my post was in contrast to any of this. At the end of the day, I merely challenged Enrico as to why, he is all over the gay marriage issue, but he is entirely comfortable with people who think gay people should not only be prohibited from getting married, but should be put to death.

This nimrod can't make a post without 3 swear words, but I'm the one with anger issues. I can remember 20 odd years ago, going all GRR on you guys. when Art Tarnow who is now a federal judge in Detroit (appointed by Clinton, as left as they will ever come so I'm not generally inclined to agree with him but I respect how sharp he was) said something about the use of profanity when making an argument that I carry to this day. Ultimately, don't use it, because your audience has totally disengaged from that point forward thinking "Did he just say/use that?". Excellent advice. You should take him up on it. I know, you "don't give a damn about what Christains think" that's why you jump all over any issue involving old school biblical/Christiancomments. And you're so open minded that you think NY is the center of the universe "I don't give a fuck about Boston". Nothing like the "toleration" of the left, you're brilliant as long as you're at the right cocktail party and writing the donation checks to people who think just like you.

It is too bad the search fx on this board sucks like it does, but I am entirely confident you have, over the years attempted to demonstrate your liberal bonafides by pointing out that you are married to an "asian" and/or "phillipino" chick, and that (in the shadow of the cut of your stay puff marshmellow man jib) you sought to demonstrate the racism of tea partiers and/or those you otherwise disagree with politically by reporting their racist comments about your wife (for some reason I recall you mocking them as slamming her for being mexican/hispanic-ha ha they were too stupid to understand she was asian so ignorant they just saw her black hair and dark skin-again I am handicapped by the search fx). We can work this all night, but I'm pretty confident my recollection of you being a 6'4" glass jawed pussy, willing to jump all over someone who won't punch back while giving a pass to those whose position is 100 times more extreme, is correct.

  • EDIT: Meant to quote RQA.

Raising children is a distinct issue from marriage. Many married couples don't have or want children, many children have parents who are not married (some of them adopted by homosexual couples), many children have only one parent or no parents. I'm not one who tries to deny the inherent differences between men and women, but I don't think that's a good enough reason to oppress people.

If you want to get serious about optimal child-raising conditions, let's get fucking serious. I'm talking forced sterilizations, requiring permits to become a parent, relocation of children from low-income homes to high-income homes, the whole nine yards. If you're not willing to go that far, then just admit that you are morally opposed to homosexuality because of what it says in a 2,000 year old book full of bullshit and justifications of capital punishment, slavery, gender discrimination, etc.

I'm going to refer to you as Maude from now on.
