Mississippi.....another shining example from the heartland

In the town's defense, it does say that most of the residents disagreed with the church's actions. That said, the church parishioners that forced the issue and caused the wedding to be moved are flat out bigots.

That's a shame. If they are in love the pastor should not only have married them the whole congregation should've been celebrating with them.
That said, how the heck could the couple have planned the wedding, sent invitations, printed programs, etc., without having even met with the pastor?

It sounds like they had met the pastor who had no problem with marrying them but the rest of the congregation threatened to fire him if the wedding wasn't moved.

Met him?...they attend that church.

Yes, that makes sense. I found parts of the story confusing, such as the fact that the couple to be married shared the same last name.
