Question for those planning on voting Republican for president

  • Who'd make a better president: Romney or Gingrich?

    both or either

  • I prefer Gingrich because I believe he will fight for what he believes in. Romney just wants to be president and the elite of the GOP want him. Therefore, no Romney for me.

    Here's something Newt believes in:

  • Depends if you factor in media bashing. With Gingrich we could get 4 years of media and enemies digging up dirt from 20 or 30 years ago which would distract from getting anything done. Gingrich has good ideas..I just don't know if he can get them passed. Romney is likely to get some things done but it is a big question mark how good of a leader he would be. My gut is the Romney would a pretty good president.

With you, but that wasn't the question.

I'd pick Romney out of that pair. I believe Newt Gingrich fights for what he believes in, but I think the only thing he believes in is himself.

I'm not the rank-and-file Democrat this board thinks I am; voted for Snyder in the primary and general, and would be a GOP lock with Paul. Romney would have the edge but would not be guaranteed with me; Obama's become toxic, whether you think it's his policies or by being demonized by the Republicans. Good people get fired all the time for being liabilities and for convenience, and the presidency is no different. It's not that I necessarily don't want four more years of Obama; it's that I don't want four more years of this polarizing bullshit, and that means Obama most likely has to go.

That probably sums up why I do NOT want Gingrich. His shtick is being a prick and sounding smart. What's the line? Something like "The thing about Newt Gingrich being a bombthrower is that he knows exactly where to throw it to do the most damage." I don't want that, we don't need that. The man was fined $300,000 by his own people, fer chrissakes. And how many Representatives from his time as Speaker have endorsed him? Three. Thank you, I will pass.

  • Is the GOP wins the senate, keeps the house, then I would believe either canadate could get a lot accomplished. Look what Obama did with the house and senate his first two years.

  • I think the only person on the planet more polarizing than Barry is Newt. I am starting to lean toward Romney but the guy puts me to sleep. Paul is out. I won't ride that horse anymore for reason's I have already discussed.

This is a crap year to be a conservative.

Some bullshit that almost no one is truly happy with?

The only way I'll vote in this election is if Ron Paul wins the GOP nomination. But between Romney and Gingrich, I think I prefer Romney. Romney represents the status quo in a slick package. Newt represents the status quo in a turd. We're all magpies on some level, give me the shiny guy.

Put another way: If Romney wins, the only thing I'll be happy about is that we have a president who looks "Presidential." If Newt wins, I won't be happy about anything.

Yes. We finally have a chance to kick this failed administration to the curb and we are going to serve up something lame to get it done.

    MasonDelhiGuy

  • So tell us how much have you seen your taxes get raised?
How many more people are getting food stamps today compared to 4-5 years ago?
How much more foreign oil we are importing than 4 years ago
Why making 40 to 42 million Americans who are free loaders using emergency rooms buy insurance is bad
How the auto bailout didn't affect you
How many troops are still in Iraq
How many Al Qaeda leaders are making videos and paying for Arabs to go to Afghanistan

I hear a lot of talk about a failed policies yet no facts to back them up.

  • Personally, I didn't think that McCain/Palin could topped. The GOP may prove me wrong.
