Supreme Court and Obamacare

  • I sure hope the Supreme Court upholds Obamacare. The end result will be a health care system in this country that will equal the excellence of our government run public education system.

If that is what you got out of my post I feel sorry for you. There is a way to provide health care to "poor" people that does not involve government intervention.

someone needs to invent an automatic boot strap puller. that would solve all our problems.

  • if the SCOTUS overturns Obamacare wouldn't they be considered a decision by "activist judges legislating from the bench?" Or is that just when judges rule for an issue conservatives disagree on?

Oh, and quality vehicle to get them to their health care.

Why don't we just support everyone from cradle to grave? thumbsup

Do you honestly believe that Obamacare could ever achieve that end?

    Strong point.

  • Health Care as it is currently configured is a Ponzi scheme and was nearing its end as an employer provided benefit. It was heading the way of the pension at the same time that costs were raising out of control. Try purchasing health care if it was something they really wanted to sell privately, would you expect to see commercials for it before 2am. They don't want to sell it, they want to bill for it and supply it to health working age people to busy to actually use it. Hospital and health system simply buy each other and extract debt for expansion to keep the systems afloat. The "free market" has done nothing to control costs because like oil health care is a "Cartel". It is simply a house of cards filled with $10 tylenol and graft.

  • There are certainly some issues of the healthcare bill that are beneficial, and it would be nice to have some kind of prescription drug plan where the government buys in bulk. However, I don't believe this program should be administered on a federal level. It should definitely be done by the states, just so it can't be botched like many other well-meaning federal government programs.

Costs for all of us are going down, and our care is going to get better.

Smart guys like you would rather have your employer pay higher premiums to cover the uninsured that fill up hospital ER's and get hospitalized for conditions that would have been controlled with regular visits to doctors.

No one will ever convince you knuckleheads that the US doesn't have the best healthcare for everyone and that treating everyone ends up costing less because there are fewer freeloaders.

Just don't come crying when your employer decides to cut back while you are undergoing cancer treatments and you get denied coverge since the private insurers goal is to push off the sickest into Medicare or Medicaid.

Are my costs going down under Obamacare? If not, why the hell should I support it? This plan is for everyone, right?

the plan is for everyone to be covered.

so your bwana, your glorious employer is calling the shots just like before. what say so do you have in your current coverage? most likely a limiited number that your employer decides you can make.

if you think limiting the amount of premiums spent on things oher than medical claims is a great thing then you are one of the knuckleheads who cheers when your critically ill co-worker is lead through a paper chase while IBM, Herman Miller, advertising buyers and the personal investment managers for CEO and CFO are scrambling around with all the millions above the 18% of premiums being spent going to them.

All you dopey conservatives just don't want to face up to the fact the individual mandate was Nixon's idea supported by Reagan, Gingrich and even Romney. Suddenly you want to have the freeloader's backs because the wrong party got it passed. More people are covered and more people pay including the freeloader's in MI and WI who have been sliding along paying nothing for decades.

Actually yes...however that is from the baseline projected costs which are going up...due to the Health Care Reform Act your costs will not rise as fast as they are rising now when the cost control parts of the act are not yet in force...

. Try purchasing health care if it was something they really wanted to sell privately, would you expect to see commercials for it before 2am.

There are two simple reasons for this:
    (a) the government subsidizes employer provided healthcare coverage by making its cost tax deductible to the employer
    (b) employers further subsidizes healthcare by paying a large percentage of its actual cost.

the combination of both causes such a price advantage that there is very little competition for health care insurance plans.

  • b0b has disovered employers still pay a large percentage of healthcare costs.

poor guy can't control his unruly children from tipping lamps and breaking things so its no wonder he doesn't think the government can do much.
