Time for Obama alarmists to eat crow

  • Here's a few of the alarmist messages and predictions I heard when Obama was elected:

*Obama is establishing a private army and secret prisons. (Well, where's the army? Who has disappeared and is suspected of being in a secret prison?)

*Obama will ban guns and ammo. (There was a massive run on guns and ammo at the gun shows - a pointless run it turns out)

*Obama will suspend election under the cover of an economic crisis. (Gee, the Republicans sure are spending a lot of money for elections that aren't going to take place)

*Obama is a Muslim who will partner with Al Qaeda. (Yeah, he partnered by putting a bullet in OBL's head)

*Obama is a Black Panthers radical who will lead an uprising. (I'm still waiting)

These seem equivalent to predictions of a global warming apocalypse by now.

I don't think any mainstreem republicans have said any of these things.

No, they have said all of them.

Who (other than Madhatter) said anything about mainstream Republicans?

Mainstream repubs are now all on the far right fringe. The moderate repubs no longer exist. So my reply is correct.

Most of those things were not said. Some of them were.

The 1st one was said by Obama himself. He said we need a strong civilian defense force (as strong or stronger than the army). And that's basically what we have in Iraq right now. He pulled out the "troops" and replaced them with civilian contractors. This way he can fund it through the State Department and go around congress.

The other one is about Obama banning guns. And it's true that he has not done anything with this, but it's pretty clear that it is on his agenda for his 2nd term when he has "more flexibility". My guess is that he will try to do this by going around congress in some way. No congress or senate would ever pass this, so he'll try to do it administratively through some sort of Cass Sunstein regulation crap. Clearly, it's on his agenda though (see link).

But other then these two items, the rest of Dewey's post is basically nonsense.
