Why are Michigan Republicans scared of vaginas?

  • They've banned Rep. Lisa Brown from speaking on the House floor because she finished her remarks about proposed abortion legislation by saying, "Finally, Mr. Speaker, I'm flattered that you're all so interested in my vagina, but 'no' means 'no.'"

Said vagina-fearing Republican Rep. Mike Callton, "What she said was offensive. It was so offensive, I don't even want to say it in front of women. I would not say that in mixed company."

'Vagina' Is Too Lewd for Michigan State Republicans – The Atlantic Wire

Someone uttered the horribly offensive, borderline criminal V-word during a Michigan House of Representatives debate over an abortion bill. Which is to say, a woman said and now male Republicans are mad about it.

Just women who disagree with the GOP majority.

This is another reason we need to get rid of term limits. We probably don't see the level of discourse go to this extreme when you have people knowing they may have to face the same people year after year in committees and their party isn't always guaranteed to be in power.

Right now you can act out and others can be vindictive knowing full well they aren't going to have to be interfacing with people they don't like. Plus any political skill is tossed out the window because you can slash and burn for the short time you are in office.

Only a fool as yourself would be elebrating any majority party using unwritten rules to silence any peple who might disagree.

That says a lot about you, your partisanship and your tacit approval that women are to be seen, not heard and should know their place.

    lol

Tony Trupiano couldn't wait to get that woman on his show Friday morning. Now that the political discourse has sunk to this level, I'm surprised that the Speaker didn't respond 'Madam, I assure you. My penis has no interest whatsoever in your vagina.'

The 'no means no' comment was even weirder. I guess she figured 'while I'm at it, I might as well accuse the opposition of being rapists too'...

Tony was actually having bad morning I think. Repubs were calling into his show crowing about the result in the Wisconsin recall, among other things. That prompted him to declare that he was going to work night and day to 'reelect the greatest president this country has ever seen' lol

Destruction of our state? Are you kidding? You're obviously not keeping up with current events. Michigan is leading the way in economic recovery since Snyder took office, and he recently closed the deal to have a new, publicly owned bridge built to Canada without using any Michigan taxpayer money. thumbsup

Granted, Detroit is still a mess but he's trying to help there too. Problem was too many years of corruption and massive loss of population.

The current economic effects have little to do with Snydor, just as during Granhomn's terms they had little to do with her, and much more to do with President Obama...and he does get credit for the bridge along with President Obama...

MI is becoming known for waiving democracy when its suits them. Wait until your your city or school district gets an "emergency manager" appointed by a governor you don't like.

You think its good for an unwritten rule be used to to stop an elected member of the MI House from speaking on any matter then you have a perverted view of how our state government should be run.

That was massive overkill brought about by a bunch of term limited people knowing the can run roughshod over others knowing full well they won't be around long enough to suffer any political repercussions. Only get celebrated by others who love power and don't give a damn who they maintain it.

As I've stated MANY TIMES BEFORE, it's O.K. with me if Detroit is spared an EM. The problem is, many Detroiters think the alternative is a bailout from state taxpayers when the actual alternative is bankruptcy...

are they scared of them as never nervous states, or are they interested in them as Lisa Brown states? It's easier trying to solve the liar's paradox than it is interpreting these kind of conflicting statements brought forth by Democrats

Most of the economics of any state have more to do with the economics of the country than with the actions of the govener.

What Syndor has done will hollow out the public protection and education in the state but it will be 20 years or so until the teachers who committed to that profession as they were able to raise a family on a teacher's compinsation will be gone from the system and we will have lessor teachers in their place due to lower compinsation...same for retired people leaving the state and lowering the tax base.

Really? Of course by using the word "most" that allows you an exception for Romney when he was gov of Massachusetts, right?
