  • good thing this board doesn't represent the actual population

I would suspect quite the opposite. They don't hate the man, just dislike his policies, poor negotiation skills, whiny leadership skills, and core anti-capitalist principles. He actually is a really nice guy.

please tell us about those "core anti-capitalist principles" boxofrocks.

I do find it amusing that the connies hate his policies even when his policies are those previously supported by the right (e.g. individual mandate for health insurance).

  • greenpebbles is really something. First he posts how tough this economy has been and how difficult it has been to peddle his wares.

Then he says the President has no negotiating skills when dealing with a the GOP that was having meeting during Jan '08 inauguration formulating ways to stymy President Obama and make him a one term President.

Maybe based on his premise greenpebbles is just a piss poor negotiator rather than the fact he is trying to sell to people with zero interest in buying from hi.

No one on the right who supported government health care of any kind is a true conservative. Obama's economic policies most closely resemble the economics of fascism. Private ownership on a basis subservient to the perceived needs of the state and the the political goals of the individual and party in power. Hand picked winners and losers. Privatizing the profits and socializing the losses. Neither pure capitalism, nor pure socialism, it is the "third way". It is focused on corporatism and class collaboration (but that aspect to a much lesser degree than say, Mussolini due to Obama's Marxist roots and his hang ups on class inequality)

The individual mandate was an idea of the Heritage Foundation, but nice try twisting the fact.

Marxist roots. Really? Damn, you are dense and easily manipulated.

Chris Weigant: The Individual Mandate's Conservative Origins

The individual mandate which was included in Obamacare is so close to what Stuart Butler of the Heritage Foundation initially suggested that we can honestly say there is no appreciable difference between the two. The only real difference is whether Republicans supported the idea or not.

None of them are truly what I, or anyone who believes in the concepts of individual liberty, private property, free enterprise and limited government consider conservatives. All of them RINO's. Republicans in name only. Shit, Nixon instituted price controls for god sake. Ask Mr. Luger about what happened to him, and is going to happen from now on to RINO's who become creatures of the Beltway and forsake their constituents.

Heritage? Meh...too establishment. More of a CATO kind of guy.

Yes, as in a follower of the teachings of Karl Marx. If you have any familiarity with Barack Obama's upbringing, you would know it is the truth. Not a conspiracy. It's not his fault, but every significant influence in his early life until he finally came to the continental United States as a freshman at Occidental were of the far left progressive bent...fellow travelers as they say. He is someone who's foundational world views were formed entirely through a childhood spent on the Island of Hawaii, sandwiched around significant years in Sukarno's communist/socialist Indonesia. (who's concept of "guided democracy" I think Obama actually draws from) When at Occidental he belonged to the campus communist party student group. He admits in his memoir that "he chose his friends carefully" explaining that they were always folks who opposed U.S. policy in principle and despised capitalism. More fellow travelers. His association with the Ayers family, the foundations and boards he sat on in Chicago, his membership in the New Party, The college professors he chose to associate with, whether organizations or individuals, they all lean heavily left, many openly Marxist. Hell he appointed openly communist Van Jones as his Green Jobs czar. If you don't think he is by far the most left leaning president we've ever had, then it is you who is uninformed.

You should have been around for the Bush2 years...exact same thing, had this board represented the actual population Kerry would have won in a landslide. And yes, to be fair, there were even a few smug posters like yourself telling liberals too "enjoy 4 more years, losers"

Funny how over the years the only things that change are one little letter of the alphabet. But kudos to you for leaving race out of the equation

Nice ideas but that horse is out of the barn and the barn has burned.

I favor freedom. I favor as much economic and social freedom as possible. Every (usually cockamamie) left wing utopian scheme to force equality of outcome, redistribute wealth, censor speech, regulate...well...everything, without fail requires often chillingly significant surrender of individual liberty. Therefore, I am categorically against any expansion of government power or size at this point. Compromise to me is instead of shrinking the federal leviathan by 40% I guess I could live with 20%. That would be the right kind of compromise. Why does compromise, according to the left (and often the RINO's) always mean increasing government...and the compromise is simply how much to increase it... a lot?...or... a whole lot? It has to stop. Then it has to go back the other way. I don't want to live in France. or Spain. or Greece. Or worse.

Gerald Ford was adopted and changed his name from Leslie Lynch King, I'd call that pretty unconventional.
