Michigan State landed its first recruit in the 2013 class Wednesday, as Henderson (Nev.) Findlay Prep power forward Gavin Schilling committed to the Spartans.
The 6-foot-9, 240 pound prospect made it official via his Twitter account Wednesday afternoon.
"I proudly announce that I will be playing my college basketball at Michigan State University! Much love to all who supported me! #GoGreen"
Schilling ultimately chose the Spartans over Villanova, UCLA and Minnesota. Schilling took official visits to all four schools and took his last official visit to MSU, traveling to East Lansing the weekend of March 8-10.
Schilling also held additional offers from Colorado State, DePaul, Illinois, Kansas State, Missouri, Ohio State, Penn State, Oregon State, Oklahoma State, TCU, USC and Vanderbilt. He is ranked as 3-star prospect.
He becomes likely the lone member of the Spartans’ 2013 recruiting class after MSU missed out on top-ranked Jabari Parker, who chose Duke over MSU and Florida in December.
Schilling helped lead Findlay Prep to a perfect 34-0 season in 2012-13, as they check in as the top high school team in the country according to USA Today.
